“Charity has been defined as ‘the highest, noblest, strongest kind of love,’ the ‘pure love of Christ … ; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with [him].’” – President Thomas S. Monson

Finally, Happy Mother’s Day, Cherie!  We express our appreciation and love to you for raising such a good young man; a son who has blessed, and continues to bless, the lives of others.  For this and so many other reasons, we again say, we love you!

  3. One cannot watch this without a tear in their eye and lump in their throat. You are so loved Gates and will continue to progress as so many are cheering and praying for you.

My son, Bridger is still at the MTC and asks about you often. He told me to let you know his district continues to pray for you.

  4. I attended the concert for gates today, along with the race for the cure. After running the race and seeing the hundreds of survivors I realized so many of us take things for granted, and then I went to the concert and saw gates for the first time since the accident and I began to cry, gates was honestly more inspiration for me than the hundreds of survivors at the race for the cure. Gates is one boy and he is fighting so hard for what he wants. He is an amazing person, and he stays so positive. His smile puts a smile on my face and makes me realize I need to appreciate what I have, we all do.

  5. Gates, yours is such an amazing story! I have much in common with your wonderful parents. I feel love and admiration for you as if you were my own son - he was a wrestler and baseball catcher, musician, and honor student - then, at the beginning of his junior year in high school he was in a devastating car accident, was in a coma for three months, and learned to talk, use his hands, and, yes, eventually walk again. Never give up!! I can see your determination! This is a special time for you and your family. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are so close to you - giving you extra strength and courage. I know you can feel it. You and your family are in my family's prayers. My husband puts your name in the Temple every Tuesday evening. Stay strong and keep that positive attitude! :)

Gates, we are so pleased that you could be at the Mayday celebration!!! Fantastic!

I wrote this poem a while ago and after re-reading it, I thought that I'd share it with you.

    For everything that happens
There is a "why" it happens
Tho many times this worls's a frightful place

It's what we do about it
It's how we get beyond it
That colors every circumstance we face

I'll scale the wall inside me
Break the chains that bind me
    And trust that someone
    Guides me in this quest

    Maybe my test was courage
Or just a door being opened
    Time will answer "why"
    I'll do the rest.

    You are awesome Gates!

  7. Hey Gates & family, loks like it was a very nice turn out. I felt really bad that we couldnt be there. Colton bought us tickets like 4 months ago too go too the SUPER MOTOR CROSS RACE in Vegas. It was nice to get away with the family, we havent had a vacation as a family for a very long time. But the whole time my thoughts were with Gates. Its fun selling the bracelets for him. I want to do anything I can too help. Christie & Lindsay, Levi & the girl's had a very good time. I hope things are going ok. We sure do love you all & our faith continues too grow everyday. Take care & thanks for keeping us all updated on how things are going. Keep your chin up we are all pulling for all of you!!!
